Who can apply to Visual Arts Work Grant?

Open to professionally working visual artists and artist groups based in Berlin. Applicants must have completed artistic training and/or demonstrate several years of artistic activity in visual arts. Applicants must not be enrolled at a university or employed as a professor during the application and funding period. Designers, directors, screenwriters, and cinematographers in documentary or feature film are not eligible, unless their media art or artistic film/video work has a clear connection to visual arts (predominant presentation in exhibition contexts). For interdisciplinary artists, the focus of their work must be in visual arts. Applicants who applied for the 2026 work grant cannot reapply until the 2028 fellowship year, with an exception for those whose 2026 application did not meet formal requirements.
